The Kansas City Chiefs are expected to return another offensive player as they prepare for the final four games of the regular season and the postseason.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, WR Marquise "Hollywood" Brown has been cleared by doctors to return to practice. Rapoport says the move to open Brown's practice window could happen on Friday, Dec. 13, or Monday, Dec. 16. Given Rapoport's note about the team being cautious in Brown's return, I'd expect the latter. Chiefs HC Andy Reid described Brown as "getting closer" to making his return to the field when he spoke to the media on Wednesday.

Brown landed on injured reserve after suffering a sternoclavicular joint injury on the first offensive snap of the team's preseason Week 1 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Brown ultimately required surgery on the injury, which left him sidelined for an indefinite amount of time. The team didn't know for certain that he'd return this season, but as his recovery progressed, it became clear that he'd have a chance.

When his practice window is officially opened, Kansas City will have 21 days to activate him to the team's 53-man roster. It's not clear how quickly he'll be reintegrated and activated, but it bodes well that he's dealing with an upper-body injury and not a lower-body injury. He could be activated as early as Week 15.

Brown can play the X, Z, and slot positions in the Chiefs' offense. He was anticipated to fill a field-stretching role similar to that of rookie WR Xavier Worthy. Integrating Brown into the playoff lineup might elevate the offense's performance. Additionally, he will reunite with new Chiefs WR DeAndre Hopkins, his former teammate at the Arizona Cardinals in 2022.
