In case you're unaware, Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarvion Overshown hasn't been wearing the name he would've wanted to in his NFL career.

Overshown, who's earned the right to be heard with a jersey number request by putting together a big year and who just got himself a signature play with his epic pick-six against the New York Giants, is wearing No. 13.

However, after wearing zero in college, that's been his intended jersey number since he was drafted by the Cowboys. In 2023, the NFL first allowed the number to be used.

But there's a problem: Team mascot Rowdy wears double zeroes himself. That's apparently been the reason that has kept Overshown from landing the number, something he's intent on getting done. Last weekend, the Cowboys linebacker on a meteoric rise tweeded that he's "getting it" even if he has to make it a part of his next contract.

The storyline has gotten to the point where Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was asked about the situation on 105.3 The Fan. The weird part is that Jones dodged the question. I use the word weird because we're used to the front office dodging questions about spending or using curtains at AT&T Stadium. But Rowdy's jersey number? Come on, now.

Instead, Jones dived into some Rowdy anecdotes, including one about the Rowdy Van being found outside a strip club and spraying water at fans.

None of this is a big deal, obviously, but rather a funny moment on radio. However, I'm guessing Overshown won't necessarily love the fact that the question was straight up ignored. I'll also just be honest here and say I don't get what does Rowdy's number has to do with an actual player wearing a single "0." It won't even look the same. I'm guessing Overshown will really have to fight for it when the moment comes for a new contract.

In the meantime, Overshown will continue to go out there on the field and prove himself. He sure is off to a hot start in that area as he's become one of the most impactful players on Mike Zimmer's defense. He can pass rush, defend the run sideline to sideline and has even had some good moments in pass coverage. His tackling must improve but overall, he's looking like a future star already.

Will he be treated as such and awarded No. 0? We'll see.
