The Tennessee Vols will not, it appears, ink their top recruit of the 2025 period on the dotted line on Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period for recruits.

Per multiple outlets, five-star offensive tackle David Sanders, Jr. – the team's top recruit – will not sign with the Vols on Wednesday.

Sanders has been a concern for Tennessee fans going back a couple of weeks now.  The star offensive tackle out of Charlotte (Providence Day School) took an official visit to Ohio State for their top five tilt with Indiana on November 16.  That's since drawn concerns that the Buckeyes – who were a finalist when Sanders committed to Tennessee – is back in the picture and a true contender for his services.

However, according to Adam Friedman from Rivals.com, Sanders is still expected to sign with Tennessee later this week.

Could it be just the timing of a signing ceremony?  Or some red tape that needs to get lined up first, something that's not uncommon in the new NIL world we live in?  Either seems possible.

But until his name is on the dotted line, nothing is official, and Tennessee – like every other program in the country- has been the recipient of last-minute changes and heartache from losing out on impactful recruits.

We'll find out in the coming days if this was just a timing or temporary delay, or if there is more going on behind the scenes that has warranted concerns from Tennessee fans for the last few weeks.
