2025 NFL Draft could surprise with QBs and skill position stars
Let's analyze each of the selections made in this two-round mock.
Josh Simmons, OT
This is the second straight mock where I've put Josh Simmons in Seattle. Their needs are limited and this offensive tackle class is average, so there will be a perceived reach. However, looking at Simmons' athleticism, improvement over the last two years, and Seattle's disastrous right tackle situation reveals a match.
At the end of the day, Simmons would likely be pushing his way into the top 10 without his torn ACL. His medicals will be critical, but there's no reason to think he won't be recovered for 2025.
Emeka Egbuka, WR
A first-round surprise wasn't that Emeka Egbuka made it, but rather where he goes. Taken 19th overall to Denver, this is a new match for both parties. But I actually love it for Bo Nix and the Broncos.
Egbuka is awesome, and is a Day 1 starter. Denver lacks versatility, so this is a good fit.
Tyleik Williams, DT
It's unfair to say the 33rd overall pick is a steal, but Tyleik Williams was a great value as the first pick of Day 2 for the Jacksonville Jaguars. The massive 320-pounder is a great run defender and has the quickness to be an impact pass-rusher. This is a deep class, pushing Williams down a bit.
Denzel Burke, CB
I was surprised to see Denzel Burke come off the board at the 43rd overall pick. He's been horrible this season, taking gambles in single coverage and being exposed as someone who doesn't play the ball as well as we thought. Burke would be a good fit in Cincinnati, though.
The best selling point for Burke is his scheme versatility and comfort in zone. He's a generally good tackler, but his effort after allowing a catch has become a red flag. I like the fit but not the value here.
Donovan Jackson, OG
The Baltimore Ravens add a new right guard option after seeing converted 6-foot-8 tackle Daniel Faalele fail. Jackson has primarily played left guard and now tackle at Ohio State, but the swap to the other side isn't too ambitious. Jackson is incredibly gifted as an athlete, but has not necessarily matched his recruiting and physical profile just yet.
Quinshon Judkins, RB
The Buckeyes have certainly been pleased with Quinshon Judkins' contributions this season, as the former Ole Miss back has shown off great power and versatility. Despite the Buckeyes' offensive line woes, Judkins has made the most of his touches without being Ashton Jeanty.
Pittsburgh's run game woes need to be addressed, and Judkins fits the bill. Neither Najee Harris nor Jaylen Warren holds a candle to Judkins' talent.
