The Detroit Lions got another nice win over the Colts on the road on Sunday, but it came at a cost. Four key players left the game with injuries. Taylor Decker, Kalif Raymond, Carlton Davis and David Montgomery.
Decker suffered a lower leg injury in in the second half when Jared Goff got pushed into the back of his legs. Decker came out of the game and then got put back in, but he was removed again later int he game.
It's the next day you have to worry about with him. The adrenaline is gone and now you wonder what's next for him.
Davis suffered a non-contact knee injury. He was questionable to return, but never did. Montgomery hurt his shoulder and went tot he locker room, but did come back out with his helmet and shoulder pads on. Raymond hurt his foot on a return and missed the rest of the game.
Lions head coach Dan Campbell gave an update on the injuries after the game. There was some positivity, but still some scariness looming.
"You know so much of this, you know, I'm not going to know. The four, you know, obviously, Leaf and David Montgomery. Decker was able to come back out, but then we pulled him again late. Carlton, I don't know. I feel okay about three of those guys. Leaf could be a little bit more serious. But even with that, that doesn't mean any of those guys are gonna be ready for Thursday, so I just don't know."
It sounds like Campbell feels good about Montgomery, Davis and Decker, but Raymond's might be more serious. We're going to see here pretty quick. The Lions will be back at it on Monday and we'll update this story then.
Update: Some of the players gave their own updates after the game.
Update: The Lions had a walk through on Monday and their estimated practice report is lengthy to say the least. The big addition was Amon-Ra St. Brown with a knee injury.
Update: Campbell says the players he's most worried about for Thursday are Taylor Decker, Carlton Davis and Kalif Raymond. He did say that he didn't think anything was long term though.
The Lions are road warriors for maybe the first time ever and Aaron Glenn deserves a ton of the credit for that
It was not too long ago when the Detroit Lions were on one hell of a bad streak on the road. They went from December 6th 2020, with Darrell Bevell as the head coach, to November 13th 2022 without a win on the road. When the Lions got that 31-30 win over the Bears in […]
