Well, barring an unforeseen set of events, the Alabama Crimson Tide's season came to an end on Saturday against Oklahoma

But to make matters worse, it came with a cost.

That would be star LB Deontae Lawson.

Deontae Lawson to miss the remainder of the season

"Deontae Lawson, we’ll lose him for the season with a season-ending injury, HC Kalen DeBoer said on Monday. "Just an amazing leader. Chosen team captain by the team. I can see not just what he means to us on the field, but just the love that our players have for him, especially those that have been through multiple years seeing what he pours into it. I know we all feel for him. We appreciate everything he’s been doing…

"…Obviously you greatly miss everything he does on the football field, but you love having that guy in the locker room leading your team."

Now, a pessimist may argue that the team only has one real game remaining, but should some magic happen on the final weekend of the regular season, Alabama still has a path to the College Football Playoff

And maybe that occurs on rivalry weekend, but for now, it' a finale in the Iron Bowl before an end-of-season bowl game as the best bet for the Tide.

"I think when you lose a guy that is kind of your steady maker in the in the box, does such a great job with the green dot communication, is such a leader for our guys and a great communicator on the field, that's tough. That's a tough loss for sure but I think our guys stepped up, said DC Kane Wommack on Monday."

Lawson was not only a team captain but the defensive signal caller for the Tide, as he wore the green dot. The signal calling will now reside with Justin Jefferson.

Lawson finishes his best season in the Crimson & White, recording career highs in tackles, forced fumbles and interceptions.
