The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for a business trip to western New York for a massive obstacle in the way of the 9-2 Buffalo Bills. The 49ers are in a tight battle for the NFC West, with all four teams within one game of each in the standings.
Buffalo presents more of a challenge than just an elite football team, though. The city of Buffalo is preparing for some major lake effect snow on Sunday that could create some inhospitable playing conditions.
Buffalo itself could be spared the worst of the snow impact, with several areas around the shores of Lake Erie set to get four feet or more of snow, they're still preparing for snowy conditions. If the forecast shifts slightly, they could be hammered with multiple feet.
Buffalo is used to it. Santa Clara, CA, is not. Massively snowy conditions won't deter Bills Mafia from turning out in huge numbers and throwing snowballs in the stadium in celebration.
A warm weather team played in cold weather on Thanksgiving night, with the AFC East Miami Dolphins traveling to Green Bay. The Dolphins, who have struggled mightily in cold weather games under Tua Tagovailoa at quarterback, dropped their matchup with the Packers.
In doing so, this snow game at Orchard Park against the 49ers has now become an opportunity to clinch the division, even with five games left to play after this one.
The Bills are going to be without their young tight end Dalton Kincaid, but veteran addition Amari Cooper is off the injury report and is slated to be a full go. Against a very challenging 49ers defense, Josh Allen and his side of the ball will have a good test in front of them as they make their way towards a playoff run.
