Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs have lost a commitment from elite cornerback Shamari Earls.

The 2025 four-star prospect decided to flip his decision and join the Michigan Wolverines instead.

Earls took to social media on Friday night to officially announce the decision and thank Georgia.

"After deep though and reflection, I have made the decision to recommit from the University of Georgia,” Earls wrote. “This decision comes down to personal reasons and finding the best possible fit for me both academically and athletically. I am beyond thrilled to commit to the University of Michigan.

“I am excited for the future and to be a part of Coach Sherrone Moore’s vision for sustained success and coach Morgan’s vision for the secondary to be the most competitive & disciplined secondary in the country!!! Michigan is an extraordinary place and I am humbled to continue the great legacy of those who hav come before me. Go blue!"

Earls, a defensive back out of Thomas Dale High School in Chester, Virginia, is ranked as the No. 2 player in the state, No. 11 in the nation, and No. 87 overall, per 247 Sports.

With Earls out of the picture, the Dawgs have just one commitment from a 2025 cornerback in four-star Jontae Gilbert.
