Kansas City Chiefs GM Brett Veach has already added WR DeAndre Hopkins and DE Joshua Uche ahead of the trade deadline, and he might not be finished making additions.

Speaking to media members ahead of the Week 9 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Chiefs DC Steve Spagnuolo was asked about the input he provides to Veach on acquiring a specific player in a trade. He revealed that Uche wasn't the only player Veach had discussed with him.

"Brett (Veach) is great in that he's so collaborative," Spagnuolo said. "It's rare in these kinds of businesses, but he's always bouncing things off of me. Like (Joshua Uche) was not the only name that he came in (and mentioned). It may be somebody we as coaches know about or don't know about. If we need to learn a little bit more, he'll throw some tape on. What Brett's great about is he gives us enough of a heads up that we got some time to kind of look at it and research. And then he kind of takes it from there, him and Coach Reid. Listen, I think he's great. He's done a great job here, and hopefully, this move we made here we'll all be happy about and it'll give us a little extra, right?"

So who could the Chiefs be looking to acquire next on the defensive side of the ball? It might all come down to who becomes available in the next few days. Here's what The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported on Saturday morning:

"The Kansas City Chiefs already made their moves, and it was no surprise GM Brett Veach pulled off two trades before we even reached the deadline. Kansas City added wideout DeAndre Hopkins and linebacker Joshua Uche. But the Chiefs still might not be done. If a wide receiver falls into their laps, I’m told they are going to try to land another one with Skyy Moore on injured reserve. Also, defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo would love for Veach to get him a young, fast corner. Kansas City is trying to land the final pieces on its mission to a three-peat."

I'd add the offensive tackle position to Russini's list, even knowing that it would cost a premium pick to land one of substance. The key here is that the Chiefs aren't going to "overpay" for a wide receiver or cornerback or tackle. Veach will keep tabs on the market at both positions and if something amicable falls into their laps, they'll jump on it. Certain teams could be encouraged to be active as sellers at the trade deadline after the results of Week 9, which could open up more options for Kansas City.

While Spags would probably love to add another young and speedy cornerback to the room, the coaching staff has shown confidence in the "next man up" mentality instilled throughout the team. The only problem is that you might have to sustain some growing pains in that scenario, which is hard to overcome when you're a team competing for Super Bowl titles.
