The Kansas City Chiefs didn't escape their Week 7 victory over the San Francisco 49ers unscathed.

It has been a war of attrition for the Chiefs so far this season and they suffered several more injuries on Sunday. It all began with JuJu Smith-Schuster, who entered the game questionable with a hamstring injury that he suffered in practice earlier in the week. He seemingly aggravated that injury during the game and was eventually ruled out

Reid didn't have much of an update to provide on Smith-Schuster, but he did speak on CB Jaylen Watson. Waston left the game once due to cramping, but upon returning to the game, he suffered a more serious injury to his ankle. He was ruled questionable to return.

"Yeah, I think Jaylen (Watson) will be (a long-term injury)," Reid said. "I think. We'll see what the MRI says, but I don't think that's going to be great news."

Watson appeared in the locker room postgame with crutches and his left foot in a cast per The Athletic's Nate Taylor. No. 35 has been one of the team's biggest surprises of the 2024 NFL season. He didn't get much work during the preseason and training camp as he returned from offseason shoulder surgery. Yet, Watson was able to claim the team's No. 2 cornerback spot opposite Trent McDuffie and has played lights out all season long. Expect that Joshua Williams, Nazeeh Johnson, and Christian Roland-Wallace will get some more opportunities at cornerback moving forward in Watson's absence.

There's another defensive injury to monitor as well. Chiefs S Justin Reid left the game at one point to get checked out for an injury, which is why rookie S Jaden Hicks was in the game when he made his goal-line interception for Kansas City. Reid did speak to the media after the game, suggesting his injury is minor in nature.
