Ohio State finally has the opportunity to shake off the Oregon loss on Saturday when they host Nebraska. It’ll be the first game for the Buckeyes in two weeks after having their second bye week.

Nebraska is coming off a 56-7 loss to Indiana, but they are still 5-2 on the season under head coach Matt Rhule.

Speaking of Rhule, he has a lot of respect for the Buckeyes and the team that they have.

“Indiana came out and challenged us. I don’t know how well we challenged them,” said Rhule in his Monday press conference. “I’m taking it personally. Now, you’re facing the best team in the country, the best roster in the country. Whatever they are, No. 4? Unbelievable team, and if we spend the whole game playing Ohio State looking at the scoreboard hoping to win, we’ll get our face beat in.

“If we go out there and challenge them because we all think we’re good football players and we want to play in the NFL, and their players are gonna play in the NFL. So, if you’re an NFL player and I’m an NFL player, then I should compete with you. If we go out there and compete, we’ll see what happens.”

The last matchup between the two sides was 2021 and Ohio State took that game by a score of 26-17. Ohio State will want to widen that margin by a lot this season.

When looking at the rosters, the talent level difference is obvious and it should show on the field. Nebraska doesn’t run the ball well at 127 yards a game and they give up 25 points a game. Ohio State enters the game running for 208 yards per game and giving up 11 points a game.

The key for the Buckeyes will be to not look ahead at Penn State and slip up against Nebraska. Ohio State should come off of the bye week focused and ready for Nebraska. Playing Penn State is a must-win after losing to Oregon, but that will come next week.

Rhule knows what he is getting into when playing the Buckeyes and his comments confirm that. Now, it is whether the Buckeyes look like the best team in the country against the Cornhuskers or not.
