The Detroit Lions had joint practices and a preseason game with the New York Giants this summer and they got to take a good look at some of the Giants players that they maybe could have taken o after the cut down. While they didn't grab anyone then, they have a chance to grab someone now.

The Giants are waiving former second-round pick Boogie Basham.

Basham has been in the league since 2021 and he showed some good stuff for the Bills in his first two years on smaller amounts of snaps. the Bills were trying to bring him along slowly and had the players on their roster to make that happen. Last season the Giants traded for Basham and it just has not worked out for him there. He's only been active for one game this year.

What Basham could use is fresh start and a good coaching staff. The Lions present the opportunity for both. This is a guy that Lions defensive line coach Terrell Williams could really do some good for. He can help get him back on track and ready to make some plays.

This is obviously not the big thing that solves the Lions problems, but this is a move that could definitely help and Basham could be someone that could grow with the Lions and be a big part of their rotation. Something they need more of.

Basham will hit the waiver wire and the Lions may have to put in a claim to get him. If he goes unclaimed, the Lions should jump on him fast.
