Many fanbases across the NFL are up in arms over how the Kansas City Chiefs have started the 2024 season 6-0.
The Chiefs have suffered significant injuries to multiple key players throughout their roster. They had to bench their starting left tackle after just two games due to poor performance, and quarterback Patrick Mahomes is off to the worst statistical start of his career.
Kansas City has also had the third-hardest strength of schedule in the league per Team Rankings. Through it all, the Chiefs are the only remaining undefeated team in the left. Head coach Andy Reid and defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo have continuously adapted and evolved, while consistently getting the most out of their players.
While joining the Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday, legendary coach Bill Belichick shared a thought about the Chiefs that should scare all other NFL teams and their fans.
"I don't anybody in this league is unbeatable, but I think that they've found a way win here in spite of the situation that they've been in," Belichick said. "I think once they get everybody back out there they'll be better offensively, but in the meantime they find a way to win," Belichick continued. "You win in the kicking game, you win on defense, and then you do enough on offense to win. Sometimes it goes the other way around. Sometimes they score 45 points and the defense gives up 42. A good team does what they have to do to win. That's what a good team does. Could they play better? Sure. And I'm sure that coach Reid will be on them today and tomorrow (and) Wednesday about 'hey, here's the things we got to improve.' And if they improve them, they'll be even harder to beat."
The Chiefs have lost a few guys for the entirety of the season, but don't forget that running back Isiah Pacheco and defensive lineman Charles Omenihu will be returning, possibly as soon as in a month. That will provide a major boost to both sides of the ball for K.C. as it enters the home stretch of the season.
Until then, as Belichick said, the Chiefs will continue to make the best of what they have. They've already embraced using 14 personnel (four tight ends) and leaning on the running game behind Kareem Hunt. These adjustments, along with Pacheco and Omeihu's returns on the horizon, as well as the schedule lightening up, should keep K.C. a powerhouse.
Rams are actively shopping a former All-Pro wide receiver, but a trade might not be so easy for the Chiefs
