Philadelphia Eagles' Cooper DeJean wasn't the only cornerback who made a big play and shut down star running back Ja'Marr Chase in the Birds' 37-17 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 8.
Isaiah Rodgers perfectly deflected a pass into the hands of safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson for a key interception in the fourth quarter.
After the game, Rodgers confirmed that it wasn't all pure luck and that he purposely tipped the pass in CJGJ's direction.
"I tried to one-hand it until I realized I couldn't and I was like, alright cool," Rodgers said. "I trust him. When I play, I know he's supposed to be up top and he was there."
Rodgers was asked again whether he could see Gardner-Johnson or not.
"I seen him once I turned back into the vision,' he said. "I seen him once I crossed my eyes. I just didn't know he was right there … that close. I just hoped he was going to make that play and he did."
Rodgers had stepped in for Darius Slay who was ruled out early with a groin injury.
His 90.1 PFF grade in the win ranked third on the team behind quarterback Jalen Hurts (93.2) and linebacker Zack Baun (90.5).
