Bears' CB Tyrique Stevenson might have let his ego get the best of him on the Commanders' walk-off Hail Mary in Week 8

No one wants to lose on a Hail Mary in any form of football. Doing so on a national stage in the NFL is even worse and there's going to be a lot of blame floating around.
Overall, it's a play that has a miniscule chance of actually paying off no matter how many things go right or wrong.
The Washington Commanders defied the odds in Week 8 after completing a 52-yard Hail Mary as time expired to stun the Chicago Bears.
Emotions were running high late in the game after the Bears' offense got the ball back to score and take the lead for the first time all night with 25 seconds remaining.
All of the energy was wiped clean out of the stadium and it looked like the Bears were going to squeeze out a huge road victory with one more defensive stop. Instead, the Commanders pulled off the improbable play and there's an interesting detail that came to light on the play after the dust settled.
Prior to rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels' last-ditched effort to heave the ball downfield, Bears' second-year cornerback Tyrique Stevenson was seen mocking the Commanders' fans while lining up deep in the end zone.
Funny enough, it was Stevenson who tipped the ball into the air, right into the waiting arms of Commanders' wide receiver Noah Brown, who came down with the score to win the game. But it gets worse when you watch the replay.
Stevenson was alone on the right side of the end zone talking to the fans when the ball was snapped and the receivers started down the field. Stevenson was able to catch up to the play in the middle of the endzone by the time the ball arrived to make a play on the ball, but it was his tip that resulted in the touchdown.
Maybe it was the young defensive back letting his ego get the best of him on the final drive. Or maybe it's just another tiny detail that may or may not have decided a critical play.
However, Stevenson did have another blunder earlier in the game after allowing a 61-yard completion to Commanders' wide receiver Terry McLaurin in the first quarter. He was also called for a personal foul in the game and was jawing with McLaurin throughout the whole game.
Outside of those moments Stevenson would love to have back, he also broke up another pass earlier in the game and added nine tackles (seven solo tackles). Overall, it was just a disappointing end for Stevenson and the rest of the team in Chicago.
