The Georgia Bulldogs have taken a huge loss ahead of their road match against the Texas Longhorns this Saturday.

The nation's top-ranked quarterback from the 2026 recruiting class, Jared Curtis, took to social media to announce his de-commitment from the Bulldogs on Thursday evening.

In his message posted on X/Twitter, Curtis noted that he spoke to both head coach Kirby Smart and offensive coordinator Mike Bobo Thursday morning, revealing that he would like to explore all of his options.

"The recruiting process has been an exciting time and a huge learning experience for me. I am especially thankful to the coaches at Georgia for their belief in me and for treating me and my family with so much love and support from day one.

"This morning I spoke with Coach Smart and Coach Bobo and let them know that I still love Georgia, but would like to take some more time to explore all my options so I can make the best, most informed decision for my future. I let them know it just doesn’t seem right or fair to stay committed while checking out other programs. People need to know where I stand and I’ve learned that making big decisions takes time.

"My focus now is taking care of business during the rest of our high school season and being a great teammate and leader. I look forward to making the most of an open recruiting process in the months ahead."

Curtis, who is the No. 6 overall prospect and No. 1 QB nationally, and in the state of Tennessee (per 247sports), originally committed to Georgia back in March.

As a sophomore at Nashville (Tennessee) Christian School last fall, Curtis threw for 2,522 yards and 25 touchdowns with nine interceptions. He has thrown for 1,624 yards and 18 touchdowns with three interceptions in seven games so far this year.

With Curtis keeping his options open, Georgia currently has only two 2026 commitments from four-start cornerbacks Jontavius Wynn and Dominick Kelly.

A win over Texas on Saturday will help the Dawgs big-time in the recruiting department.
