The Detroit Lions finally ended their long losing streak to the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night with a 42-29 win. There was a lot to take away from this game as the Lions head into the bye week. Some guys had big nights and others didn't. Here's our 0 winners and 0 losers from Monday's win.
Winners
Jared Goff
Goff just went out there and played the very best game of his career if you ask me. 18-18 for 292 yards and two passing touchdowns. He also had a receiving touchdown too. Could he have possibly had a bigger night? Sure, if he were a video game character. If Goff keeps playing like this and like he played against the Cardinals, he's an MVP candidate for sure.
Tim Patrick
We got to see Patrick really get folded into the offense on Monday night and it went very well. He had a solid block early on in the game and then had two big catches for first downs. The Lions lost Josh Reynolds during the offseason and they needed a guy that could come out and at least do a impression of him, Patrick showed that he can do just that and do it well. He should be an even bigger part of the offense after the bye.
Jahmyr Gibbs
Gibbs keeps getting better and better every week. He ran for 78 yards and two touchdowns on 5.6 yards per carry on Monday night. He looked like the guy we all saw last year and if he and David Montgomery keep playing this way, how can you stop this offense?
Amik Robertson
What a night for Robertson. He was everywhere out there. If a tackle was being made, it was usually Robertson. He had eight tackles and two pass breakups. The only complaint I have is that he didn't get a stop on Tyler Lockett that he should have gotten early in the game. Other than that he was red hot.
Losers
Carlton Davis
Davis did do some good stuff on Monday night, but he also did some really bad stuff. He lost contain on multiple plays and allowed some scores and he got called for penalties multiple times. He was playing super aggressive and it worked at some points, but it also hurt too. Plus you just got to keep your cool out there with the officials. There were a couple times where you watched him talk to officials and you were grinding your teeth hoping that he wasn't going to do something that could get him tossed.
Terrion Arnold
I feel it's super important that I tell you guys that I love this player. I was all about him getting drafted by the Lions before the draft. I talked about how he was the best corner in the draft and the Lions stole him. I still very much feel that way today. He's going to be really good in time.
Right now the Lions need to dial him back and have another corner take the starting snaps for at least a couple weeks. Lions fans may not see it as a big deal, but eight penalties in four games is not just a normal thing that happens. I get that he's playing a hard position and it's trial by fire and all that, but he leads the league in defensive penalties and the Lions have allowed five scores on eight of those penalties.
He is not a bust, I don't think he's a bust and I don't hate him. I just think he needs to step back for a short period of time and work on some technique. That's it.
James Houston
Houston got a shot to play on Monday night and it was time for him to really show that he can still be an asset for this team. He instead got tossed around and lined up offsides twice. All of this on 14 snaps. It's even easier to notice this stuff when you didn't play a lot.
Taking a look at every penalty Lions rookie Terrion Arnold has committed to see if officials are being too hard on him and what the easy fix is
Detroit Lions rookie Terrion Arnold has had an up and down start to his NFL career these past four weeks. On one hand we've seen some encouraging things that show that he is going to be the player we all expect him to be. On the other hand he leads the league in defensive penalties […]
