Philadelphia Eagles legendary center Jason Kelce may no longer be around to keep the Birds in check, however, star right tackle Lane Johnson has done a nice job of stepping up in his place.

Johnson wasn't afraid to call out his teammates following Sunday's narrow 28-23 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

"I felt like we left … it should have been a 40-point game," Johnson said. "And I felt like the yards we obtained should have been a reflection of that. It comes down to scoring points. It doesn't matter about yards. You don't win the game with yards. There's multiple times we could have had some points and we didn't."

Both sides of the ball were an issue as the Eagles failed both of their two-point conversion attempts and then nearly blew a 22-point lead.

Johnson blamed the team's struggles on a "lack of focus."

"When you get up on teams, a sense of complacency can naturally come on you," he said. "The talent level in this league and the players in this league, they will expose you. It's really what's it's like week to week."

According to Johnson, getting away from a comfortable mindset starts with controlling your emotions during practice throughout the week leading up to the game.

"It goes down to Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays," Johnson said. "When the pressure is hitting on you, you have to make it pressurized. So it can translate to the game."

Unlike some of his teammates, Johnson was not apart of the problem on Sunday as he allowed zero pressures.

Head coach Nick Sirianni pointed out after the game that Johnson's consistent play had translated well into his leadership role.

"His play speaks for itself, and it’s always done that. I’ve always seen him from afar, and then the four years I’ve been here, he’s been one of our best players at all times," Sirianni said."Lane does a great job leading by example. I always admire that Lane always points out the scout team players, how much they’re helping him get better and how much they’re helping us get better as a team.

"You praise different people, you always do different things like that, but I always admire that about Lane. How good he’s been at encouraging those guys. I think any time Lane comes off the field, he’s got a great feel in-game of when to make suggestions and why you’re making those."

If the Eagles want another Super Bowl run everyone needs to start listening to and playing like Johnson, including Sirianni.
