The Philadelphia Eagles will catch a break this week when planning to take on the Los Angeles Rams at Sofi Stadium.

That's because Jalen Hurts and the rest of the Eagles' offense won't have to worry about facing Rams former sack monster Aaron Donald.

Donald threw in the towel at the end of last year after racking up 111 sacks through 10 NFL seasons.

While Donald never had a sack against the Eagles in their five matchups, his absence is still certainly a huge sigh of relief and one less headache for Nick Sirianni's offensive game plan.

That is especially true since the Eagles no longer have Jason Kelce on their offensive line, whom Donald credited with keeping him locked up every game.

However, even without Donald, the Rams' defense remains something that Sirianni knows they can't take lightly under new defensive coordinator Chris Shula.

"I had the privilege to work with Chris Shula at the Chargers. Got a lot of respect for him as a football coach," Sirianni said. "I think he’s doing an outstanding job. They still have really good players. Any good player keeps you up.

"Not that I’m sad that Aaron Donald is not going to be there. But they’ve got a really good defensive line. Chris and [Rams Senior Defensive Assistant/Associate Head Coach] Sean [Desai] are doing a great job of leading that defense."

Overall, this Rams' new defense has been great at winning the takeaway battle this season and currently ranks seventh in interceptions (10) and sixth in forced fumbles (9). Their 27 sacks on the season rank 12th across the league.

"Chris has put his own spin on that defense, and they’re playing well," Sirianni said. "This is a good football team. We’re going to have a challenge this weekend."

But they won't have the challenge of figuring out how to shut down Donald.
