The Tide are preparing to take on a Sooner team that will surely be motivated, with a trip to a postseason bowl on the line during the last two weeks of Oklahoma's season.
'But for Alabama, the last two weeks are just about locking in, and taking care of business against OU, and then of course, closing out the season in fashion with a win in the Iron Bowl.
"I think we really honed in and the guys really believe and have understood the significance of really focusing on where we're at right now," HC Kalen DeBoer said earlier in the week. "We talk about the next play is the most important play, the next game is the most important game. We haven't thought of anything beyond Oklahoma. I even go back to this last week, I think our guys did a great job of just focusing on Mercer. I really do…
"…I think they really honed in on trying to make themselves the best they can be, continue to get better, and that will put is in position to where then now playing Oklahoma, we give ourselves a better chance to win. We're really, I think locked in on the right things right now."
It's the right mentality for a team that one could argue was the opposite of locked in during a midseason stretch that saw them lose two games in a three-week span, with a close call against South Carolina in between.
But ever since the Missouri game, the Tide have started playing with a demeanor becoming of a real contender. A routing of a ranked Tigers team before taking down LSU in their own stadium has many bullish on an Alabama team that many believe has turned the Tides on their season.
