The Oklahoma Sooners are hosting the Alabama Crimson Tide at home on Saturday night. Now, based on everything we have seen this season from the Sooners, there isn't much to be excited about. But, the games have to be played, and the Sooners have a streak they have to try and extend. With a win this week, or even next week against LSU, the Sooners will make their 26th straight bowl game.

So, there is still something to play for, and you have to hope that the players show up for those reasons as well. This is the second-longest active streak we are talking about, behind only Georgia, which will extend its streak to 28 this season. But to do that, the Sooners first have to win, and that just doesn't seem doable at this stage.

Then again, who would have thought that Vanderbilt would beat Bama? Certainly not me. If it's going to happen, certain things have to go the right way. So, I reached out to A to Z Sports' Rob Gregson, the Alabama beat writer for us here at A to Z, to get a bit of a primer on this game.

Oklahoma vs. Alabama primer

The Oklahoma Sooners need one more win to extend their streak to 26 straight bowl games, one of the longest streaks ever. Is there a way where you can see that happening? What would the Sooners have to do?

For the Sooners to upset Alabama, they have to limit the two things the Tide do best: Run the ball with QB Jalen Milroe, and take away the football. Alabama has forced three or more turnovers in each of their past four games. And while Milroe is a bit of a polarizing player, no one doubts his ability to split the seams for six when he’s a ball carrier.

Who is one underrated player on offense or defense that the Sooners need to know about, which maybe the country doesn't know about?

One player who is gaining increasing notoriety but is still underrated would be LB Jihaad Campbell. He plays a stacked backer, but he’s so athletic that Alabama doesn’t mind letting him play off the EDGE or drop into coverage in sub-packages. He can wreck a game in an instant.

Bama has had some issues this season keeping their foot on the gas. They could have massively put away Georgia in that game but kept it close. Is there a way the Sooners could keep this game close, but still lose?

You’re exactly right when speaking on the momentum of the Tide. Far too often the team comes out flat, and they tend to become complacent when they have a big lead. The Missouri game changed that when they shut out a ranked Tigers team, and I expect that mentality to carry over in Norman. The Tide roll the Sooners on Saturday.
