During the New Orleans Saints' loss to the Carolina Panthers in Week 9, Michael Thomas went on yet another harsh rant towards the team. This time, quarterback Derek Carr was at the center of Thomas' focus.
The former Saints wideout had a multi-post rant, where he held nothing back in throwing major shade towards Carr after Chris Olave was forced out of the game due to another concussion.
Thomas used some profanity and harshness in his attack of Carr, and it caught the eye of tons of folks. He went viral once again, without even being on the field for New Orleans.
Keep in mind that Thomas helped recruit Carr to New Orleans when the team was looking for a new quarterback a couple of years ago. He wanted to play with the veteran QB, but it just did not work out between them – or as an offense as a whole, essentially.
Derek Carr responds to Michael Thomas
Of course, the QB was asked about his former teammate's posts on social media after the game. He did not care for the comments by Thomas on Sunday afternoon and made his feelings crystal clear on the situation.
"I've had so many teammates over the years and he's like the one dude that didn't get along with me. And I don't know what I did to him. I don't know why he feels that way. I'm sorry for whatever he's dealing with to make him feel like he's got to do that," Carr said. "I don't know. But he's never called me during any of this. My phone number has never changed. I've in fact called him on different occasions. Just to try. And sometimes you can try as hard as you want and it just doesn't work out. And that's OK, so I don't know why he feels any type of way. I didn't see it. I won't see it. Because I always ignore everything, good and bad. I try to ignore everything. It's unfortunate. Especially coming from a player like that. But I wish him the best. I hope he gets on a team and does what he wants to do and loves it."
"[If] what he's looking for is to put blame on me that I got Chris Olave hurt, he can put blame on me," Carr said. "It's not going to change my day. I have a pit in my stomach any time one of my teammates goes down because I love them that much."
— Carr
Carr also added that he spoke to Olave to make sure he "was good" before talking to the media after the loss. He thought he was in good spirits, all things considered.
The wideout was brought back to the stadium after medical evaluation at a local hospital. Olave flew back to New Orleans with the team, too.
No matter what – we now know exactly how the relationship between Thomas and Carr was during their time together in black and gold. There are no longer any secrets there.
