Pros:
- Insane power profile
Williams has an argument as the strongest overall player in the 2025 NFL Draft class. He has an incredibly powerful lower half, and can’t be moved once he has his heels dug in. His level of power is overwhelming at times. - Explosiveness
With how strong Williams is, some people might underrate the explosiveness that he brings to the table. His first step is surprisingly fast, which allows Williams to greate a ton of power in tight windows. Once he gets his momentum rolling, it’s over. - Relentless motor
With as talented as Williams is, he could easily get by with minimal effort. Despite that, he plays with tremendous effort. His motor typically runs hot on a snap-to-snap basis.
Cons:
- Flexibility
While there is some quickness, Williams is much more of a linear player. He can win a gap with his first step, but will rarely be able to bend a track. That could limit his backfield production.
- Pass rush upside
That lack of flexibility is a big reason why Williams might never be able to create a major impact on passing downs. Combine that with his lack of length, and there is just an issue at times to consistently get off of blocks. Finishing plays behind the line of scrimmage will suffer in result. - Bad weight
It doesn’t affect his movement skills much, but Williams does carry some bad weight on his frame. It’s possible if he has some an increase in flexibility if that weight is redistributed. It wouldn’t hurt his consistency either.
Player Evaluation:
There may not be a better run defender in the 2025 NFL Draft class on the defensive line. In the run game, Williams has a chance to develop into one of the very best in the NFL. His floor is extremely high for just that reason, possessing high level traits to work at the point of attack, and create consistent penetration.
As a pass rusher, Williams is less dynamic. He has enough movement skills to make an occasional impact, but he will probably never be consistent in that department. That could limit him to a plus starter that plays a lower amount of snaps in obvious passing situations.
Player Comparison:
Dalvin Tomlinson (Cleveland Browns)
There’s a strong argument that Williams is the top run stopping defensive tackle in the 2025 class. His power, anchor and natural leverage make him a potentially elite defender in that department.
A to Z Rankings:
A to Z Big Board Ranking: #50 overall, #5 defensive tackle
A to Z Draft Grade: 7.88
Draft projection: Second-Third round
