The Seattle Seahawks received some bombshell news on Friday. During their preparation for the San Francisco 49ers, the Seahawks lost a starter to a surprise retirement ahead of Week 11.

Connor Williams

According to Ian Rapoport, Connor Williams has decided to retire. Williams has started every game at center for Seattle this season.

Williams missed practice this week due to a personal matter.

Seattle HC Mike Macdonald discussed the news on Friday afternoon.

“So Connor early this week decided to retire. Personal reasons, and we respect that. Wish him the best, and we’ve got to move forward.”

The Seahawks head coach does not expect Williams to change his mind regarding the retirement. It is seemingly a done deal for the 27-year-old. Williams was a second-round pick in 2018 by the Dallas Cowboys. He played 92 career games, with 86 starts.

Williams suffered a serious knee injury last season with the Miami Dolphins. After contemplating hanging up his cleats, he signed with Seattle as a key addition to the offense.

Olu Oluwatimi will be the new starting center for the Seahawks. He is in his second year in the NFL.
