The Georgia Bulldogs played 13 freshmen in their 34-3 win over the Clemson Tigers last Saturday, however, only a couple stood out.

One was true freshman safety KJ Bolden and his Pro Football Focus grade showed just that.

Bolden's PFF grade of 75.3 was the highest among all true freshmen safeties from Week 1.

In his debut for the Dawgs, Bolden logged a team-high 49 defensive snaps and made four tackles.

It's not every day that a freshman makes an immediate impact in the SEC, especially against a ranked opponent like the Tigers.

But as some might say, Bolden is "built differently," or like Smart says, "very gifted."

“He’s played more football than most seniors. He’s been playing since he was 6 years old,” Smart said. “In the heart of Atlanta, in one of the toughest leagues there is to play football. He’s played up against older kids all his life. He’s extremely athletic. The moment’s not too big for KJ. He’s just very gifted athletically, but he also had great football instincts and intuition. He’s been coached by his father. He’s tough. So I think that gives him a leg up coming in just because he’s been playing football so long.”

The former five-star recruit out of Buford hasn't locked in a starting role at Georgia yet, though his time could be coming sooner rather than later if he keeps up the good work!
