Lamar Jackson proves to be one of the more down-to-earth stars in the NFL.
After Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, two first-ballot Hall of Famers, named Jackson as a top-five quarterback, the reigning MVP couldn't have been more cool about the honor.
“That’s dope, especially coming from those guys," Jackson said. “Those [are] guys who [are] on top of the Mount Rushmore [of quarterbacks] right now, for me at least. That’s great – that’s great to hear that from the GOATs.”
Brady, when asked, listed his top five quarterbacks as the following:
1.) Patrick Mahomes
2.) Josh Allen
3.) Lamar Jackson
4.) Joe Burrow
As for Manning's list? It was the following:
1.) Patrick Mahomes
2.) Joe Burrow
3.) Justin Herbert
4.) Lamar Jackson
5.)Josh Allen
"Quarterbacks need to be coached hard," Manning said. "Andy Reid coaches Patrick Mahomes hard. And that's good for Patrick. And that's bad for NFL defenses. Patrick Mahomes is No. 1."
The fact that two of the NFL's best to ever do it are naming Jackson as a top-five quarterback proves how good the Ravens' leader is. Jackson's humble response proves he isn't letting all the support get ahead of him.
Ahead of Jackson is the elusive Super Bowl. Until he gets that, odds are he won't be satisfied.
