Now, the team will shift its focus to the waiver wire, where they must hope their top players will pass through unclaimed and potentially submit claims for available players around the league.
The Colts have the 15th-highest waiver claim position, the same as their 2024 NFL Draft position. I have my eyes on three players who could be a fit for the Colts.
Three players the Colts should target on the NFL waiver wire
Lewis Cine, S
Former team: Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings drafted Cine with the 32nd pick in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. However, he didn't live up to his first-round selection, as he only appeared in ten games over the last two seasons due to injury and has only recorded one total tackle in his NFL career.
Cine appeared to be finally healthy this offseason and had a really impressive preseason. In my opinion, the Colts only have two players. I'd feel comfortable getting defensive snaps at safety so they can justify taking a swing on a player like Cine.
Keenan Isaac, CB
Former team: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Isaac signed with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent in 2023. He appeared in two games during his rookie year and looked poised for a solid second-year jump after an elite showing during the preseason. Isaac's long frame at 6'3" is precisely what Gus Bradley covets at the position. And with the team only keeping five on the active roster, they could desperately use another body before Week 1.
Jaquelin Roy, DT
Former team: Minnesota Vikings
Roy appeared in 12 games as a rookie with the Vikings and recorded eight total tackles, one tackle for loss, and one QB hit. This doesn't sound like a lot, but Roy was behind multiple players in the rotation. That continued into this season, which led the Vikings to cut the 2023 5th-round pick. If the Colts claimed Roy, he would be the third NT behind Grover Stewart and Raekwon Davis. So he still wouldn't see the field a ton, but it would help prevent us ever seeing Taven Bryan lining up at NT for the Colts again, which is a significant win.
