The New Orleans Saints still have their eye out on the free agency market. They may add an offensive weapon in the coming days if their latest workout is a success.

Saints showing interest in former XFL star wide receiver

Pearson led the XFL (now UFL) in receptions in 2023 with 60, receiving yards (670), and receptions for first downs (32). He was also a member of the All-XFL team.

The wideout also has returning experience, a spot that the Saints have wanted to add to ever since they attempted to pick up Kene Nwangwu off waivers. He was released with a failed physical designation, so that depth hole remains for New Orleans.

Pearson has previously worked out for NFL teams. He has tried out for the Atlanta Falcons, Denver Broncos, Indianapolis Colts, San Francisco 49ers, and Seattle Seahawks.

The workout may or may not end in a signing. The Saints need more wideout depth, as multiple options on their active roster dealt with injuries during training camp and the preseason.

Luckily, Mason Tipton and Rashid Shaheed both returned to practice last week. They're expected to be ready for Week 1 against Carolina.

As for Pearson, he's a good athlete. He ran a 4.42 40-yard dash during his pro day before the NFL Draft. He's an Ole Miss and Western Kentucky alum.

A practice squad spot is also a possibility for Pearson, depending on his interest there. Keep an eye out for an update on Pearson's status this week. New Orleans clearly wants more depth at wideout to begin the 2024 season.
