The Kansas City Chiefs have shuffled their 53-man roster and practice squad once again, finalizing a series of roster moves that have kept the roster in flux since cuts.

As first reported by Chiefs Digest's Matt Derrick, former Dallas Cowboys CB Eric Scott Jr. has been signed to the practice squad for Kansas City. The Chiefs previously claimed Scott, a Basehor, Kansas native, during 53-man roster cuts after he was waived by the Cowboys. He wouldn't last long, though. In a surprising move, the team waived Scott from the roster just two days after they'd claimed him. Scott cleared waivers on Monday evening.

Now, the 6-foot-1 and 197-pound cornerback lands back with the Chiefs on the practice squad, as we predicted. There he'll have an opportunity to get acclimated to the 53-man roster and potentially help the team in the future. Players on the practice squad are allowed to be elevated to the game-day roster three times throughout the season and an unlimited number of times during the postseason.

The Chiefs also made a corresponding 53-man roster move

The Chiefs had an open spot on the 53-man roster after placing RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire on the Reserve/PUP list. There was some speculation that they might wait to add a player to the 53-man roster to avoid guaranteeing salary, but that won't be the case. They've made a move to finalize the 53-man roster ahead of their Week 1 tilt with the Baltimore Ravens.

I expected that the Chiefs would continue to make additions on the defensive side of the ball, just because the roster numbers heavily favor offense. Brett Veach opted to sign recently added former Philadelphia Eagles DT Marlon Tuipulotu from the practice squad to the 53-man roster. This move makes room for Scott Jr. on the practice squad and also fills out the 53-man roster for Kansas City.
