The LSU Tigers played well for the most part in the season opener against the USC Trojans but they couldn't quite get it done in a 27-20 loss. That game ended up sparking a massive tirade from LSU head coach Brian Kelly.

Luckily for Tigers fans, it's not the end of their chances for the College Football Playoff. With 12 teams making the playoff, including seven at large teams, it's an interesting layer to the season. Plus, the committee is likely going to reward teams for trying to play tough non-conference games.

The Tigers get a slightly easier game in week two as they have their home opener against Nicholls State.

This game needs to be the launching point for the Tigers, as the SEC schedule begins the following week against South Carolina. Quarterback Garrett Nussmeier showed that he is the real deal at quarterback. He looked calm, cool and explosive under center and time will only make this offense better.

Along with Nussmeier, wide receiver Kyren Lacy looks like the next great Tigers wideout. He caught seven passes for 94 yards and a touchdown while displaying a lot of really impressive traits. The fifth-year senior is primed to be the draft pick at wide receiver from the Tigers.
