The San Francisco 49ers are looking to end a very long wait for a road win in Minnesota on Sunday when they face the Vikings in Week 2.
San Francisco lost to the Vikings in primetime in Week 7 last season, extending a 49ers' winless run in Minnesota that stretches back nearly 32 years.
The Niners have not won a road game against the Vikings since a 20-17 victory on December 13, 1992.
Following a dominant season-opening win over the New York Jets on Monday Night Football, the 49ers have plenty of reason to be confident of finally ending the drought as they go up against their former backup quarterback Sam Darnold and a Vikings team that fired on all cylinders in their Week 1 win against the New York Giants.
And a hugely intriguing matchup will be seen by much of the country.
The 49ers-Vikings tilt is being broadcast as part of CBS' early slate of games, with Kevin Harlan and Trent Green on the call.

In addition to most of California, the game will be the only one available on CBS in the following states: Alaska, Hawaii, Washington, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Michigan, Wisconsin and New Mexico.
The vast majority of viewers in Oregon, Idaho, Arizona, Oklahoma and Illinois will get the game, along with much of Texas and areas of Missouri, Nebraska, Wyoming, Kansas and Colorado.
San Francisco delivered in emphatic fashion on Monday on the national stage without Christian McCaffrey.
The audience won't be as big in Week 2, but the challenge will be the same, with the 49ers set to be asked to rise to the occasion without the Offensive Player of the Year again after he was ruled out on Friday.
Against a Vikings team that also made a hot start in Week 1, it will be fascinating to see if the Niners can continue to excel without their offensive focal point. With one of the better broadcast teams in the business on the call, the 49ers' latest attempt to get a win in Minnesota should make for compelling viewing.
