How to properly use bulletin board material against your opponent was just put on by the Washington Commanders when they shocked the Cincinnati Bengals at home Monday night.
No one had the Commanders putting up 38 points on the road against a Cincinnati team that desperately needed a win after starting the season 0-2. That is exactly what they did and the Jayden Daniels’ led offense out-battled Cincinnati from start to finish. Commanders ended up on top by a 38-33 and they are getting the last laugh.
Following the game, the Washington Commanders social media team took a fun crack at Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt, who made a not-so-ideal comment about the Commanders’ offense earlier in the week.
“They don’t make him do a lot,” Taylor-Britt said to local reporters on Thursday. “They keep it really simple for him. [It's a] nice college offense [and] Kingsbury's the OC. They move guys around here and there, but just keep it real simple for him. I heard his pass percentage is very high, but he’s only throwing short routes. Some intermediate stuff, quick throws.”
Daniels went out and had as many touchdown passes (2) as he did incompletions (2) against Cincinnati. The rookie quarterback completed 21 passes for 254 yards and his two touchdowns were deep passes to veteran wide receiver Terry McLaurin. The key thing is that Daniels did not turn the ball over and added 39 rushing yards.
It was quite the performance from the Commanders on offense with 356 yards of offense. When they needed touchdowns they got them and didn’t settle for a field goal attempt.
Things are very bright for the Commanders in the future due to the hot start their rookie quarterback has had to his pro tenure. On the flip side, Taylor-Britt may be a bit more careful with what he says during the week.
Jayden Daniels makes Bengals player eat his words during Commanders’ huge win on Monday Night Football
Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels is off to a great start and it's a big reason why the team just throttled the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football. The Commanders offense, as a whole, produced its best offensive performance of the season, without a doubt. Kliff Kingsbury's unit scored on every single possession it […]
