The Philadelphia Eagles made some roster moves on Tuesday after their wide receiver room was hit with more injuries in Sunday's 15-12 win over the New Orleans Saints.
The place wide receiver Britain Covey on injured reserve with a broken bone shoulder.
This isn't too surprising considering we learned yesterday that Covey is expected to miss at least six weeks with that injury.
To fill Covey's roster spot, the Eagles signed tight end Jack Stoll to the active roster and wide receiver John Ross to the practice squad.
Stoll was elevated against the Saints but played just 13 offensive snaps. He's known for his blocking skills over his receiving skills.
As for Ross, he'll likely be elevated this Sunday vs. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers since the Eagles could be without both top receivers A.J. Brown (hamstring) and DeVonta Smith (concussion).
Ross, a former ninth-overall draft pick by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2017, initially announced his retirement from the NFL in July of 2023.
His decision to step away from football early was in part because his career never took off as expected due to several injuries. But fast forward to May of 2024, Ross decided to give the whole football thing another shot and signed a one-year deal with the Eagles.
He performed well in the offseason and was having a great preseason before he was concussed in Game 2. Then, the Eagles chose to keep rookie Johnny Wilson on the 53-man roster over the veteran.
But now there's a chance that Ross, along with practice squad wide receiver Parris Campbell, could be on tap for large workload in Week 4 against Tampa.
