The NFL world pretty consistently the New Orleans Saints prior to the New Orleans Saints. At the forefront, Kurt Benkert, a former backup NFL quarterback, was demonstrative about his beliefs about this year's Saints team.

He did not believe in Derek Carr, nor the rest of New Orleans' roster, for 2024. In fact, he thought the Saints may be the worst team in the NFL this season.

He did follow up this post by mentioning the New England Patriots as another option for the worst team in the NFL this year. Regardless, he thinks New Orleans will be a candidate.

Benkert has been known for some strong football opinions since his retirement from the league. He's been active on social media and grown a Youtube channel for his personal NFL and college football analysis. — A to Z Sports

Benkert even went as far as calling some Saints fans delusional for having positive aspirations prior to this season for their team. Now, he is walking back his prior predictions about the black and gold.

As his tweet/post notes, Derek Carr looks like a different human this season. Klint Kubiak has Carr playing some of the best football of his career.

The Saints QB has been calm, collected, and efficient in the first two weeks of the season. His play, alongside Alvin Kamara, has led the Saints to be the top offense in football after the first two weeks of the season.

I respect Benkert for realizing his mistake sooner rather than later. New Orleans was never going to be one of the worst teams in the entire league, even if they did not contend for the NFC South title.

Now, it looks like they could be one of the top teams in the conference if they continue to play well.
