The Pittsburgh Steelers did some roster gymnastics early this week when shuffling around their players to handle some recent injuries.
Part of that was placing WR and key gunner Ben Skorwonek on the injured reserve while reuniting with a familiar face.
And now that face is headed back to the active roster, a place he called home over the last four years:
Steelers Elevate CB James Pierre, OT John Leglue
The Steelers elevated offensive lineman John Leglue and cornerback James Pierre from the practice squad to the Active/Inactive Roster for Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Chargers at Acrisure Stadium. Leglue and Pierre will revert back to the practice squad after the game. Leglue returned to the Steelers practice squad this year after spending the 2023 season with the Atlanta Falcons. Leglue was first signed to the Steelers practice squad in 2020, spending two seasons with the team and appearing in six games in 2021. -Teresa Varlery, Steelers
Pierre was picked up by Pittsburgh as an undrafted free agent out of Florida Atlantic in 2020, serving the duration of a four-year rookie contract before parting ways with Pittsburgh in the offseason.
Recently released, following the adversity faced in the special teams unit, it only made sense to reunite with a player who has nearly 70 games under his belt and has even started at corner and played well, much less be a key special teamer.
Latest injury news doesn’t bode well for the future status of Steelers’ standout rookie
Not the news Pittsburgh wanted.
