It was far from pretty, but the Philadelphia Eagles managed to pull off a 15-12 win over the New Orleans Saints in Week 3.
Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts completed 29 of 38 passes for 311 yards with no touchdowns and one interception. He also fumbled the ball once.
Hurts now has five turnovers through three games, which has many worried about for the rest of the season.
However, running back Saquon Barkley, who rushed in both touchdowns and a two-point conversion in for the Eagles on Sunday, doesn't think there's a reason to panic.
"He just comes in the huddle and says everything is going to be alright," Barkley said when asked how Hurts responds to turnovers. "He's always got that look on his face that no need to worry. Just keep going at it. Keep working and we're going to be alright. You just see it. He don't even got to say much. You can see it on his face. You can see it on his demeanor. He's a winner. He's a gamer. And he came up big."
When questioned again about how reassuring Hurts following big mistakes, Barkley didn't hesitate.
"Big. I mean he's the leader of the team," Barkley said. "He's the heart. We all follow him. The way he responds is big. And I'm happy for all of us. We're all going to have turnovers. We're all going to make mistakes. But that's part of football. That's how you respond. You let everybody else panic. You let everybody else worry, but we've got to come in the huddle and look at each other and know that it's going to take all 11 of us to get the job done."
The Eagles were down 12-7 with less than two minutes remaining when Hurts found tight end Dallas Goedert on third-and-16 for a 61-yard reception, which set the Eagles up at New Orleans' 4-yard line. On the next play, Barkley punched the ball in for a score and followed it up with a successful two-point conversion attempt.
Eagles' undrafted free agent safety Reed Blankenship sealed the victory with an interception with 48 seconds on the clock.
Barkley finished with 17 carries for 147 yards, while Goedert logged a career-high 170 yards on 10 receptions in A.J. Brown's absence.
As Barkley said, it's how you respond and the Eagles all came together to respond — starting with Hurts.
