The Minnesota Vikings put forth one of its worst first-half efforts in team history in Saturday’s matchup with the Indianapolis Colts.
The halftime score read 33-0 in favor of the visiting Colts. It marks the first time the Vikings have been shut out in the first half this season. The 33-point halftime deficit ranks third all-time in franchise history.
It's been over two years since Minnesota was held scoreless in the first half. The last time the Vikes were shutout in the first half was in Week 6 of the 2020 season, when the Atlanta Falcons took a 20-0 lead into halftime.
The Vikings aren’t getting drummed by one of the NFL’s top-flight offenses, either. The Indianapolis Colts, who are coming off of a 35-point beatdown to the Dallas Cowboys last week, are taking Minnesota to the woodshed. Ironically, Indianapolis was outscored 33-0 points in the fourth quarter of last week's loss.
To make matter worse, the Colts have scored 30 points just once this season.
The first half can only be described as an unmitigated disaster that should worry Vikings fans about the team’s postseason longevity.
