CBS Sports thinks the Denver Broncos are the most logical trade destination for Los Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers.
Akers, a second-round draft selection in 2020, appears to be on the way out of Los Angeles.
The former Florida State standout was a healthy scratch for the Rams in week six. According to a report from NFL.com, Akers was inactive because of "philosophical and football-related differences with head coach Sean McVay".
As a result of that decision from Los Angeles, a trade seems inevitable.
And Denver could certainly use Akers.
Few teams are as desperate for an offensive spark. Few teams are in a more dire state at RB, where they lost tackle-breaking standout Javonte Williams to injury and don't trust Melvin Gordon to protect the rock. Defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero was a Rams assistant during Akers' first two NFL seasons, and he's got reason to put good word in for his new team in the AFC West.

Due to the unique situation with Akers, a release is possible.
The Rams, however, will work hard to find a trade partner so they can at least get a late-round draft pick for Akers.
Denver could definitely use another running back. Akers is talented, but he isn't proven. The Broncos would be wise to talk to the Rams about Akers, but they don't need to give up too much for a running back who was a healthy scratch this week and has had issues with the coach who just led Los Angeles to a Super Bowl win.
If they can get Akers for a late-round pick (sixth or seventh) then it's a move worth making. Giving up more than that shouldn't be an option for the Broncos.
