The Denver Broncos offense has been downright atrocious. There is no way around it. That is a big reason they have decided to change some things up because, at this point, they need to try anything and everything.

For a team that has some young good receivers, and a Super Bowl-winning quarterback in Russell Wilson, the offense shouldn't be this bad. But here we are.

The Broncos tried two things recently to maybe spark something on offense. Head coach Nathaniel Hackett gave up the play calling to the passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach Klint Kubiak.

Kubiak has experience calling plays as the offensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings in 2021.

The offense started the game strong, and possibly better than they have all year so far.

But there was something else they did a bit differently too. They went more uptempo, which seemed to work for the most part.

"You know I think the tempo stuff has been great for us when we have gotten into it, for the most part, this year," Wilson said.

"Obviously the first time we played Vegas [Raiders] we had some really big plays… this game we made some really good plays. The Guys were catching a lot of good balls and doing a lot of things with that too, and some of the runs too as well."

Going uptempo helps the offense do a few different things. In my opinion, it keeps the momentum going at a pace that the Broncos can control where the defense can't.

The pace is the biggest part of going no-huddle or having an uptempo offense. We saw it work that way a few times for the Broncos last Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders.

"It makes it challenging for the defense because they have to scramble and figure out what we are doing. So, that's always helpful too as well," Wilson continued.

I hope we continue to see the offense try more things.

What they were doing on offense, obviously wasn't working. They needed to try something else. Trying to change play callers and adding in a wrinkle-like going uptempo seemed to help a bit.

But think about this. Don't let the second half of last week be the thing that makes you immediately decide this won't work. It was the first time Kubiak called plays all season.

They still have a lot to work on in terms of offense, but I think they are definitely going in the right direction.
