The Denver Broncos are hoping to get one of their best defensive players to play this week. If he does, he could be a huge impact, but he is dealing with some injuries.
This season has been one of the worst seasons the Broncos have ever had in terms of dealing with injuries. As we know, they always have injury issues, especially the last few years, but this one just feels a tad bit worse.
Denver didn't have the opposite of a season of what they expected because of their injuries though. They had a bad season because of bad play and bad coaching, so we can't continue to use that as the primary excuse.
However, injuries have been a huge factor, and even in Week 16, when the season is almost over, they still can't seem to escape it.
Last Sunday was Randy Gregory's first game back off of the injured reserve list, this week he is back on the injury report and did not practice on Thursday, as he did "maintenance" on his knee.
However, fans should not worry about Gregory being on the injury report. According to Nathaniel Hackett, they are confident he is okay.
"We're hoping that he's going to be able to play," Hackett said on Thursday.
Gregory was signed in the offseason to a lucrative 5-year, $70,000,000 contract with the Broncos, including a $10,000,000 signing bonus, $28,000,000 guaranteed, per Spotrac.
This year he only played five games. So far he has just two sacks and two forced fumbles. That's a lot of money for a guy that is producing two sacks.
