The 2022 NFL trade deadline might go down as the wildest in league history and the Kansas City Chiefs made sure to get in on the fun.

Right at the deadline, the Chiefs sent cornerback Rashad Fenton to the Atlanta Falcons for a conditional seventh-round pick.

Alright, so this isn't a groundbreaking deal for the Chiefs, but it was still an important one.

Kansas City made this move to clear some salary.

According to NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, the Chiefs are saving $1.4 million by trading Fenton to the Falcons. That gives Kansas City some more flexibility if they decide to sign anyone before the end of the season (maybe Odell Beckham Jr?).

Fenton was selected by Kansas City in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

The former South Carolina standout has been battling injuries of late.

I doubt this had anything to do with the trade, but if you remember during training camp, there was a viral video that went around of Patrick Mahomes yelling at Fenton. Mahomes told Fenton that all he does is hold.

Fenton didn't appear to be part of the Chiefs' long-term plans. Since he's a free agent after the season, it made sense to move on from him and at least get a late-round draft pick for him.
