The Philadelphia Eagles received grim news on the health status of its MVP frontrunner Jalen Hurts.
Multiple reports suggest that Hurts’ status for the Eagles’ Christmas Eve showdown with the Dallas Cowboys is in doubt due to a shoulder injury.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Eagles' quarterback suffered a sprained shoulder in Sunday’s win over the Chicago Bears. Schefter reports that the injury occurred late in the third quarter, when Bears defensive end Trevis Gipson drove Hurts into the Soldier Field grass.
Hurts’ toughness is constantly on display, bouncing up from big hits on, what Eagles fans might refer to as, an uncomfortably frequent basis. His most recent display of fortitude even shocked one of his teammates.
The good news is that this injury isn’t considered to be a long-term issue. Shortly after Hurts took the shot, he delivered a 68-yard touchdown pass to A.J. Brown, which should inspire hope for a speedy recovery.
Philadelphia has the luxury of getting Hurts the rest he needs as the team’s magic number to clinch the No. 1 seed in the NFC is down to one.
If Hurts is unable to suit up on Saturday night, back-up quarterback Gradner Minshew will be thrust into action. Eagles fans are no stranger to Minshew Mania, but the fan-favorite signal caller will have his work cut out for him with a tenacious Dallas defense aiming to even up the season series.
