The Kansas City Chiefs had one of their most important players miss their Monday Night Football game against the Las Vegas Raiders. Right guard Trey Smith missed the game due to a pec injury he has been dealing with, so, it was best to keep him out for this one.

In other words, the Chiefs' offensive line wasn't going to be as good as it usually is, as Smith is very good at his job.

We saw that in the first half, as the Raiders got to Mahomes at will. They registered a few sacks in the first half, and a ton of pressure as well. Mahomes did look a bit uncomfortable in the half, too.

Things did get better, though. Whether it was the offensive line blocking better or the team responding to the penalty in a positive way, the Chiefs looked like a different team after.

Or, maybe it was what Mahomes told his offensive line.

"I kind of went up to the O-line and said hey, we are going to win or lose this game because of y'all. And they responded. They went out there and blocked their tail off for the entire second half and gave me time to make those throws down the field."

There are a few things to take away from this quote he shared with us after the win over Las Vegas.

First, I don't know if I have ever heard him talk like this about his team. In a way, it almost sounded like he told the offensive line to their face that they were the reason the team was struggling. Is that bad? Not necessarily. But it is different compared to the way we normally see Mahomes.

Also, it is a bit weird for him to share with the media that he said that, without them not necessarily asking.

Secondly, we have seen a different Mahomes this year in terms of leadership, in my opinion. Because, if he did really say that, it definitely seemed to work for the Chiefs' offensive line. Something made them click, and my guess is this quote.

This team is on a different level right now. I know the score won't show it, but this was a huge win for the Chiefs. I know their record doesn't show it either, but the Raiders are not a bad football team. They showed that too.
