While the Miami Dolphins (8-7) are in the middle of a four-game win streak, they control their own destiny. In fact, there are a handful of ways they can clinch a playoff spot this weekend.
Unfortunately, they won't have their Pro Bowl signal caller to do so. It is being reported that after Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa entered the NFL's concussion protocol, he did sustain a concussion in Sunday's loss to the Green Bay Packers.
He is out this weekend. QB Teddy Bridgewater will start against the New England Patriots (7-8).
This is not the first time this season the Miami Dolphins have had to overcome a similar situation. Tagovailoa missed two games after 'missing' concussion-like symptoms that were re-sustained the following week against Buffalo and Cincinnati, respectively.
On the year, Bridgewater has appeared in four games. Completing 37/60 (61.7%) 522 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions.
It is unclear the severity of concussion Tua sustained, but doctors have recommended he not play anymore in the regular season. Having sustained his second concussion in three months time.
If Tua misses both this week, and next week against the New York Jets (7-8), a two-game stretch against playoff hopefuls, the Dolphins season might be in jeopardy.
In the best interest of the Dolphins quarterback and the team's future, how this weekend ends will likely determine how they approach week 18.
