A handful of roster spots for the Miami Dolphins are, officially, up for grabs entering Week 4.
The Miami Dolphins have generally let the roster settle across the first few weeks of the 2026 season. With the regular season now underway, Miami has had several games to assess their talent. And, in the case of star running back De’Von Achane, say goodbye.
The Dolphins made Achane’s season-ending injury official on Monday, placing him on injured reserve. But it’s what the Miami Dolphins did with the rest of their Monday transactions that need to be monitored. Miami also released two players off the practice squad and waived a defensive tackle…without adding anyone new.

In total, Achane is converted to injured reserve and defensive tackle Keith Cooper Jr. is now subjected to waivers. Miami released veteran EDGE Clelin Ferrell after using his third and final practice squad elevation in Week 3, along with releasing defensive lineman Jordan Miller.
If Cooper Jr. clears waivers by tomorrow afternoon, it is probably a safe bet to assume he would take Miller’s place on the practice squad. Perhaps that is an omen of the looming return of 2025 first-round draft choice Kenneth Grant. Grant will be eligible to return after next week’s contest against the Minnesota Vikings after starting the season on injured reserve. Miami also has two running backs on the practice squad who could seize a 53-man roster spot between Carlos Washington and Jarquez Hunter.
That still leaves two spots. Miami will use them this week one way or another, even if Grant is soon ready to return to action. So who else gets the call? Does seventh-round rookie Max Llewellyn get elevated and serve as the rotational replacement to Ferrell? Does the team go outside their own ecosystem? The Dolphins held workouts for a slew of players last Tuesday — so look for some commitments to come by mid-day on Tuesday.
