It’s often said that the NFL is a copycat league, but replicating the success that Jalen Hurts has endured in 2022 is easier said than done..

The Philadelphia Eagles’ star quarterback has combined for 32 touchdowns on the season, placing him at the center of the NFL’s MVP conversation. The growth Hurts has demonstrated in his third season in the league is something that all young quarterbacks will aspire to mirror.

Hurts' Secret Sauce

As for the secret to Hurts’ success, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni believes it’s as simple as putting in the work.

“He works his butt off. He’s always here. He’s always in this building,” Sirianni said on Wednesday. “It doesn’t matter what time of day, it doesn’t matter if the players are in that day or not, he’s always here. Always working on his craft. Always working on getting his body physically ready. Always working on his mind, making sure that’s mentally ready. Tribute to Jalen, he’s a stud.”

It’s the combination of a great work ethic and maturity that Philadelphia noticed in Hurts’ draft process. Having been given one of the NFL’s top supporting casts, Hurts has been able to take full advantage.

Following Sirianni’s comments, Hurts took to the podium to give his own answer on what has led to his rapid development.

“There’s no secret formula, there’s no rocket science to it, I just put the work in. I’ve tried to remain consistent in my habits throughout my whole entire career. Everybody may see certain results, but nobody sees the work. Work has been consistently put in every offseason.”

The NFL season is a constant grind, meaning those that achieve success at the highest level have to embrace the work that goes into it. Whether that comes on the field or in the film room, the league’s greatest players share one common trait – they love the grind.

Hurts’ latest comments give Eagles fans confidence that his level of play won’t drop off in the seasons that follow. In fact, this might just be the tip of the iceberg as Hurts is still in the beginning stages of his career.
