Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes didn't mince words on Wednesday while sending a message to his teammates.
After the Chiefs' 24-20 loss to the Buffalo Bills, Mahomes expects everyone in the building to be "locked in" for Kansas City's week seven matchup against the San Francisco 49ers.
"Guys better be focused," said Mahomes. "After losing the game, and then turning on the film and watching this opponent we're about to play, guys better be locked in. Because if we don't play our best football, we're not going to win. So guys will be locked in and ready to go."
The Chiefs are 4-2 and tied for first in the AFC West with the Los Angeles Chargers.
This is a pivotal game for Kansas City. It's a road game that the Chiefs should win, but the 49ers, who are in a three-way tie for first in the NFC West, will be eager to knock off Kansas City.
If the guys aren't "locked in" for the Chiefs, then Mahomes is right — they'll lose. But I wouldn't expect that to be an issue. Mahomes is a great leader and he's doing the right thing by publicly holding his teammates accountable.
