Trust me, I'm about as sick of the Tom Brady-Miami Dolphins rumor as you are. And I'm sure Jason Licht and the Buccaneers feel the same way.
But there's so much content out there pushing said rumor that it feels like a disservice to let it rule the internet and the airwaves. I at least have to do something on my end to push back.
And the latest push back is documenting Licht's response to the rumor that Brady was going to team up with Sean Payton and the Miami Dolphins as part owner/quarterback in 2022.
“I make of it as chatter," Licht said Tuesday when asked what he thought about the rumor. "We’re focused on putting our team together here with the draft and we’re all excited. We’re all in lockstep here – Tom, Todd [Bowles], myself, Byron [Leftwich], the entire coaching staff on this season.”
And that's exactly what it is: chatter.
The Buccaneers have been the focal point of several Brady rumors this offseason, so Licht receiving a question about the Dolphins is simply following the unofficial theme of 2022, so far. Brady has been tabbed a future 49er, Dolphin, and then as an unhappy player that forced his head coach out of his job and into a front office role.
I know Brady was starring in an upcoming movie, but I didn't know he was capable of playing that many roles at once.
Thankfully, the draft is next week.
