The Kansas City Chiefs' wide receiver group will look much different in 2022 than it did in 2021.
Kansas City traded star wide receiver Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins earlier this month (due to Hill wanting a new contract at a higher price point than what KC was willing to pay). The Chiefs also let wide receiver Byron Pringle walk in free agency.
Chiefs general manager Brett Veach made a couple of wide receiver free agency signings, inking Marquez Valdes-Scantling and JuJu Smith-Schuster to deals this month.
For now, the Chiefs don't really have a true No. 1 wide receiver to replace Hill.
But that could be changing in the near future.
According to Pro Football Network, Kansas City is showing interest in trading for Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf.

Metcalf is entering the final year of his rookie contract, which means he's on deck for a lucrative extension.
The Seahawks are publicly maintaining that they plan on keeping Metcalf in Seattle. But after watching Hill and Davante Adams get traded this offseason, it wouldn't shock me to see the Seahawks trade Metcalf (especially with Tyler Lockett under contract and no easy way out of his contract).
Now, would the Chiefs be willing to pay Metcalf big money? They weren't willing to pay Hill what he wanted, but Metcalf is only 24. The Chiefs might be more willing to pay a younger wide receiver.
Also, Kansas City was planning on extending Hill. Then Adams got a big deal from the Raiders (after he was traded from the Green Bay Packers) and Hill's price point changed. KC then had to quickly pivot to trading Hill. If the Chiefs trade for Metcalf, they'd first need to find out what kind of contract he's hoping to get.
If Kansas City can make it work, the idea of Metcalf catching passes from Patrick Mahomes is certainly exciting.
