KANSAS CITY – The Chiefs lost stud wideout Tyreek Hill during the offseason, but they semi-filled the void by drafting the electric Skyy Moore with the 54th overall pick in the draft.
Moore's versatile skill set and playmaking ability are two big reasons why. He's a great fit for what the Chiefs like to do on offense and he should have no problem carving out a role as one of the top receiving targets in 2022 and beyond.
And he has a shot to make Chiefs history in 2022 if everything goes like it's supposed to.
Per Pro Football Reference, Kansas City has never had a rookie receiver -be it a receiver or tight end- amass 1,000 receiving yards in Year 1. Dwayne Bowe came up just five yards short in 2007. After that, no rookie has even touched 800 receiving yards in their first year.
Outside of Moore, the Chiefs' receiver room is currently highlighted by JuJu Smith-Schuster, Mecole Hardman, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling. All three are solid players in their own right, but none are as versatile as Moore, which should help him get on the field more often and see more targets in various situations.
Moore still has work to do, but everything is set up for him to have a big year in 2022. It could even end up a historical season, as well.
